Carlos Ulberg has made it clear he wants to serve as the official backup fighter for a potential rematch between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira.
During a recent press conference, Ulberg revealed his direct conversation with Hunter Campbell. “I spoke with Hunter Campbell immediately after my fight and requested to be flown to Las Vegas. He confirmed, saying `sure,` which is fantastic. I explicitly stated my intention to be the backup fighter,” Ulberg explained.
Ulberg emphasized his ambitious goals: “My purpose here is to break records. I don`t believe anyone has ever contended for a title the weekend immediately following their own bout. That`s the scenario I envision. I`ve already made my intentions public. My first priority is to be in Las Vegas. If the UFC designates me as the backup, that`s excellent. I`m prepared to step in and fulfill the role should any fighter withdraw.”
